I recently saw a post by Shanee Moret on LinkedIn about her 75-Day Fitness/Health Challenge. I immediately forwarded it to a CEO friend of mine, urging her to jump in and get started.
Her reply?
“I’ll start tomorrow.”
To me, that sounded like “never.”
It reminded me of a powerful sermon by the legendary Zig Ziglar—a story about a sales meeting Satan held with his legion of devils. It’s a metaphor for how we all get trapped by the most dangerous sales pitch: procrastination.
I shared this story with my CEO friend, and now I’m sharing it with you, because it couldn’t be more relevant.
The Devil’s Sales Pitch:
Satan gathers his demons for a brainstorming session, and one of his devils bursts out with excitement, “I’ve got the perfect plan to recruit souls!” He continues, “Let’s tell people they need to quit sinning—no more drinking, gambling, or illicit behavior.”
Satan, furious, interrupts, “Are you out of your mind?!
Those are our best tools!”
But the little devil smiles, “No, no, hear me out.
We’ll tell them to quit… but we’ll tell them they don’t need to rush.
Let’s convince them that tomorrow is soon enough to change.”
Satan grins, realizing the genius in this approach.
“Brilliant! Let’s sell them the idea of tomorrow—the perfect word for procrastination.”
And with that, Satan and his devils knew they had struck gold.
The word tomorrow became their greatest tool, trapping people in inaction, letting them believe they could always change later.
Procrastination Is the Devil’s Greatest Lie: The truth is, procrastination is the most subtle yet powerful tool to keep you stuck.
You tell yourself, “Tomorrow, I’ll get fit,” “Tomorrow, I’ll start that business,” or “Tomorrow, I’ll give up bad habits.” But as Proverbs 27:1 warns us, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”
Tomorrow is the enemy of progress—it’s Satan’s biggest deception.
Just like my friend delaying her fitness challenge, we often tell ourselves tomorrow is soon enough. But you know what happens when we say that?
Tomorrow becomes never.
James 4:14 reminds us, “You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” Our time is not guaranteed.
God Calls for Action Now:
Procrastination isn’t just a bad habit—it’s a sin that separates us from God’s plan. 2 Corinthians 6:2 tells us, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”
There’s no more dangerous trap than waiting for the perfect moment to act, because the perfect moment will never come.
The only moment you have is now.
What About You?
Have you ever fallen into the “tomorrow” trap?
Be honest—what have you been putting off?
Whether it’s starting a fitness challenge, mending a relationship, or pursuing that career goal, don’t let Satan’s sales pitch fool you. God doesn’t want you to wait; He wants you to act now.
So, what are you going to start today?
I challenge you—don’t wait until tomorrow.
Share your story with me below—what have you been delaying, and what step will you take today to beat procrastination?
Let’s hold each other accountable and move forward with faith and purpose!
